A Ginger Cookie Worth Publishing

The Ginger Daily
by Abbie Leeson

Sometimes the best recipes are hiding in plain sight—right on the back of a package.

In her new book Chickens Don't Fly: A Kitchen Table Book, chef and author Faith Wheeler features our Ultimate Chewy Ginger Snaps, shared as an “off-the-bag” recipe.

After 30 years in the restaurant business, Faith created Chickens Don’t Fly, a beautiful coffee-table cookbook and memoir, featuring more than 100 recipes inspired by her travels and cooking life. While 95% of the recipes are her own originals, she also celebrates something often overlooked: the recipes brands develop to showcase their ingredients.

As Faith writes: “I always try a recipe from a food box or bag. With a company's desire to showcase their brand in its best possible light, the R&D team aims to please. I've rarely not enjoyed an ‘off the bag’ recipe. Thanks to the kind folks at The Ginger People, I can share this best-in-class one with you. Sorry, Toll House, we might have a new winner.”

We couldn’t be more honored to see our Ultimate Chewy Ginger Snaps included in such a standout collection.

Closing Thoughts and a Little Encouragement from the Kitchen

I encourage everyone to try my Ultimate Chewy Ginger Snap recipe, especially those who love baking. I have to admit, I was more excited about the acknowledgment from author Faith Wheeler in her new cookbook than any other honor. Thank you, Faith. I’ve had my sights set on Toll House for years, and you captured the sentiment perfectly: “Sorry, Toll House, we might have a new winner.”

I also appreciate Faith’s encouragement to try recipes her way first, then get curious, experiment, and make them your own. There is joy in learning the foundation and then letting curiosity take over.
